Inelco Hunter has announced extended availability of Amphenol’s Amphe-PRB series connectors. The new connectors are a versatile solution for one, two, or three-phase applications, accommodating up to five contacts. The connectors also feature a dedicated ground contact. Amphe-PRB series connectors are suitable for a wide range of applications in industries such as alternative energy, telecommunications and anything powered by electric motors, including electric or hybrid vehicles.
Traditional metallic circular connectors, though durable and reliable, often do not meet the economic prerequisites. The Amphe-PRB series provides an innovative alternative, featuring a lightweight thermoplastic design, making it both durable and cost-effective. The thermoplastic shell is UL F1-rated for outdoor use, offering excellent resistance to ultraviolet light, water exposure and immersion. These features make the connectors ideal for use in challenging environments where ruggedness and reliability are paramount. Designed to bridge the gap between performance and cost, the Amphe-PRB offers an affordable solution without compromising on quality.
Safety is a top priority with the Amphe-PRB connector, as it is designed to be touch-proof. Its rugged construction ensures durability and the ability to withstand exposure to moisture, boasting an impressive IP67 rating. The Amphe-PRB series excels in field installations, offering both crimp and set screw terminations using standard contacts.
One of its most notable characteristics is the quick positive coupling enabled by its reverse bayonet design. This feature allows for a secure connection that reduces installation time, making it easier to ensure a solid, stable connection in high-vibration environments. Additionally, the Amphe-PRB connectors are rated to withstand shocks and vibrations up to 15g, which is critical for applications where consistent connectivity is essential, such as in industrial automation and heavy equipment.
The series has an ingress protection rating of IP67, ensuring that the connectors are fully protected from dust and can withstand immersion in up to one metre of water for 30 minutes. This makes the Amphe-PRB an excellent choice for outdoor and harsh environment applications. The connectors are also UV-resistant and meet the UL F1 standard for UV degradation resistance, which is crucial for components exposed to outdoor conditions.
Specifications include reverse bayonet couplings, an operating voltage of 600V AC Max, a current rating of 46A to 60A, IP2X touch-proof contacts and crimp termination. Certifications include UL94-V0, and the wire size is 8 to 6 AWG (8-16 mm²).
Inelco Hunter’s in-depth engineering support ensures rapid implementation, speeding up the customer’s time-to-market. Inelco Hunter’s engineers will work with the SME engineers. This added-value support is at the core of Inelco Hunter’s philosophy, and has been for over 30 years, setting them apart from the “stock and ship” distributors.
